Flying Into the Outback

Rex Airlines and QantasLink connect Broken Hill Airport with Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Dubbo, with the airport sitting just 6km from the town centre and a short taxi ride from Imperial Fine Accommodation. The airport is also home to the Royal Flying Doctor Service's largest base in Australia, profiled on our Royal Flying Doctor Outback Heritage Experience page.

The Legendary Outback Xplorer

NSW TrainLink's weekly Outback Xplorer service takes roughly thirteen and a half hours to cover the 1,125km journey from Sydney, offering travellers a genuine outback rail experience rather than simply a fast connection. Great Southern Rail's Indian Pacific also passes through Broken Hill on its transcontinental Sydney–Perth route, making the town a rare stopover point on one of the world's classic long-distance train journeys.
