Broken Hill hosts world-class music, racing, and cultural festivals throughout the year.

Mundi Mundi Bash (August)

Australia's premier remote outback music festival set on the Mundi Mundi Plains north of Silverton.

St Pat's Races (March)

Historic regional racing carnival drawing thousands of visitors for fashion, racing, and festivities.

Broken Heel Festival (September)

A vibrant three-day festival celebrating drag, music, and performance inspired by *Priscilla*.

Mundi Mundi Bash — Australia's Outback Music Phenomenon

Launched in 2022 on the Mundi Mundi Plains, roughly 38 km from Broken Hill, the Mundi Mundi Bash has rapidly grown into one of Australia's most awarded outback festivals, taking out Best Festival and Event in NSW at the 2024 and 2025 NSW Tourism Awards. Held each August with headline lineups drawing tens of thousands of ticketholders, the festival also holds a Guinness-recognised world record for the largest simultaneous Nutbush City Limits dance, with proceeds supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the same organisation profiled on our Royal Flying Doctor Outback Heritage Experience page. Guests visiting during festival season should book well ahead via our Rates & Availability page, as accommodation across Broken Hill sells out quickly.

Broken Heel Festival — Celebrating Priscilla's Legacy

Held at the mural-lined Palace Hotel, the Broken Heel Festival grew from Broken Hill's connection to the 1994 film *The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert* into the city's second-largest annual event, drawing drag performers and visitors from across Australia for a weekend of parades, cabaret, and community celebration each September.

St Pat's Races

The historic St Pat's Race Day carnival each March remains Broken Hill's largest single annual event, drawing thousands for a day of racing, fashion, and outback hospitality. Combine a festival trip with our Itinerary Ideas for a well-rounded few days in the Silver City.
